Kate Hudson and Matt Bellamy finally reveal name of new baby boy (and yes, it's a little kooky)

Kate Hudson and fiancé Matt Bellamy have finally settled on a name for their new arrival.

The baby boy, who was born on Saturday night in L.A. weighing in at 7 lbs. 12 oz, has been named Bingham Hawn Bellamy.

British Muse rocker, 33, tweeted today: 'So happy! Just had a baby boy, Bingham 'Bing' Hawn Bellamy.'

'Mum and baby are strong and healthy.

'Mum was a warrior, Bing popped out after 4.5 hours of intense pushing!'

Soon after, he returned to Twitter to explain the inspiration behind the unusual name.

He wrote: 'For those wondering, Bingham is my mum's maiden name.

'Bing Russell was also Kurt [Russell's] dad. Family connections all around!"

The actress, whose biological father is Bill Hudson, considers Russell, her mother Goldie Hawn's partner of 28 years, a father figure.

Nicknamed Bing, the boy's middle name is also a tribute to Goldie.

Kate, 32, also has a son Ryder, seven, with her ex-husband, Chris Robinson.

New arrival: Kate Hudson gave birth to a 'healthy baby boy' in Los Angeles last night - her first child with Muse frontman Matt Bellamy


Kate Hudson and her fiancé Matt Bellamy have welcomed a son.

The 32-year-old actress gave birth to a 'healthy baby boy' in Los Angeles last night her rep has confirmed to Us Weekly.

Kate is also mother to seven-year-old Ryder who will play big brother to the new addition to their family.


Kate and the Muse frontman began dating last year although they reportedly met a few years ago in Australia.

The Almost Famous star told Elle UK in September that she and Matt were very happy together, calling him 'lovely'.

The couple are said to be close to purchasing a Malibu mansion to raise their new baby in.

The 7,000 square foot home is reportedly worth $5.3million and is nestled in the exclusive Pacific Palisades.

However, Kate is rumoured to be going to spend a few months in the UK while Bellamy finishes recording his next album before finally settling back in LA.

Although Kate had was initially not receptive to the idea of getting married again saying she 'didn't feel it necessary' as she 'already had one child and one divorce' clearly changed her mind.

Her elder son is from her first marriage to Black Crowes singer Chris Robinson who divorced in 2007.

Bellamy proposed to the pregnant actress in April, with Kate making the announcement during an interview with Matt Lauer on The Today Show that Matt's proposal occurred in the prior week.

She showed off the huge engagement ring, estimated to be worth $200,000.

Kate was treated to a baby shower on June 5 at a private home in Malibu. It was attended by friends Courteney Cox, Nicole Richie and Rachel Zoe.

It has been a weekend for births as Victoria Beckham also had her baby too.

The former Spice Girl gave birth to her fourth child - a 7lbs 10oz baby girl at 7.55am today.

Victoria and husband David are said to be 'delighted' with their new daughter.

Glittering: Pregnant actresses Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson looked radiant in their full-length gold gowns at the Costume Institute Gala in New York tonight


They were surrounded by an array of beautiful, stylish women.

But with their radiant pregnancy glow, Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson went some way to outshine their fellow guests at the Costume Institute Gala last night.

The actresses both opted to dress their bumps in full-length gold gowns at the New York event, held at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.


Stylish: Alba, who was accompanied by her husband Cash Warren, wore a Ralph Lauren gown for the event which this year is being held in tribute to Alexander McQueen


The Costume Institute Gala, one of the biggest events in the fashion calendar, is this year being held in tribute to designer Alexander McQueen, who took his own life last February.

Earlier in the night, Fantastic Four star Jessica, who turned 30 last week, tweeted that she would be wearing Ralph Lauren.

She was joined by her producer husband Cash Warren and was styled by Brad Goreski, Rachel Zoe’s former assistant.

Jessica, who already has a daughter, two-year-old Honor, is due to give birth at the end of the summer.

Man with Rifle Arrested at Kate Hudson's House

Perhaps we aren't the only ones who feel we're owed a personal apology for Fool's Gold. TMZ reports an armed intruder was arrested at Kate Hudson's New York City home today.

A neighbor reportedly called 911 after seeing someone with what looked like a gun on Hudson's roof. When authorities arrived, they found two young men at the scene - one with an unloaded rifle and the other with a camera. Sources tell TMZ that the men claim they were shooting a movie in the neighborhood, which is close to NYU.

The men are currently being questioned by the cops. It is not known if Hudson was home at the time.
