The Teen Mom personality was pictured grabbing a Starbucks coffee and playing with some dogs who were up for adoption.
She even took one for a cute black pooch for a walk as she enjoyed a day off from rehab in western Los Angeles.
Since going into therapy Amber has taken up kickboxing, and it looks like it is already bearing fruit.
She looked in good health and wore a simple yellow top and stylish ripped jeans as she made the most of her day of freedom.
Her outing comes just a month after she was rushed to hospital following a suicide attempt at her home in Anderson, Indiana.
The 21-year-old was taken to St John’s Hospital following the scare.
She was allowed to leave after a 72-hour hold for psychiatric evaluation, which is the usual procedure after a suicide bid.
Gary Shirley, who Amber is in a tempestuous relationship with and father of her daughter made an emergency 911 call after she threatened to kill herself on the phone.
However a source told RadarOnline that instead of being by her side in hospital, Gary had a 'cook out' with a group of his close pals.
‘He’s concerned for Amber, but he has custody of Leah [their daughter] right now, and she’s his priority’, the source added.

Meanwhile, when Gary, 25, feared Amber was about to end her life, he called 911 and told the operator: ‘I spoke with my girlfriend… she had said something to me about having a hard time with her life.
‘She said, ‘Call the police, they’re going to find my body in the garage.’
Amber was later found by authorities on her couch and was rushed to St. Johns Hospital by the ambulance.

Star Magazine reported that Amber was found unconscious in her home in Anderson, Indiana with a rope around her neck.
‘Late this morning (11:34 am), Anderson Police responded to a call at a residence in the 1300 block of Peasant Meadow Drive.
‘According to the caller, 21-year-old Amber L Portwood was depressed and threatening to end her life.
‘The victim, who did not appear to be injured, was transported to a local medical facility for further evaluation.’
Tempestuous: Gary Shirley and girlfriend Amber have had a troubled relationship which led to him winning custody of their daughter in MayLife & Style magazine also reported Gary and Amber had had a fight over the phone before the incident.
A source told the magazine: ‘She said she was mad because he cheated on her, but he thinks that was just an excuse to pick a fight with him, because it happened two years ago. She said she was so upset, she was going to kill herself.’
Amber and Gary, who have one daughter together, had always had a tumultuous relationship.
The mother-of-one was previously arrested and charged with domestic battery on Gary after three separate incidents in which she attacked him.
She had been facing two felony counts but plead guilty to misdemeanour battery and struck a deal last week avoiding any jail time.
Miss Portwood shot to fame on the MTV reality show 16 and Pregnant in 2009 and then moved onto the follow-up show Teen Mom later that year.
